A Level 2 Youth Mental Health Qualification — Specifically Designed for Those Who Work With Children
The FAA Level 2 Award in First Aid for Youth Mental Health (RQF) is an Ofqual-regulated qualification specifically designed for anyone who works with, cares for or supports children and young people. It is accredited by First Aid Awards Ltd, regulated by Ofqual (England) and SQA (Scotland), and delivered by a qualified Nuco-certified Trainer/Assessor.
Unlike a general mental health awareness course, this qualification is built around the mental health needs and experiences of children and young people — with content, scenarios and the First Aid Action Plan for Mental Health all tailored to a youth context. It is a step above the Level 1 awareness qualification, providing greater depth, a practical action plan and scenario-based assessment.

On successful completion of the written assessment, delegates receive a nationally recognised Level 2 certificate valid for three years. Minimum 6 contact hours as required by the FAA regulated syllabus.

Level 1 Awareness vs Level 2 Youth Mental Health
Both qualifications are Ofqual-regulated, delivered by the same Nuco-certified trainer and carry a nationally recognised FAA certificate valid for three years. The right choice depends on your audience, role and the depth of skill required.
Level 1 — Awareness

Two-Part Regulated Assessment — Written and Practical Scenario
The FAA Level 2 Award in First Aid for Youth Mental Health uses a two-part assessment. Delegates complete both a written assessment and a scenario-based practical in which they demonstrate the application of the First Aid Action Plan for Mental Health. There is no grading — delegates either pass or are referred for further support. On successful completion, delegates receive an FAA Level 2 certificate valid for three years.
