About This Programme

Supervisory Skills Training — Built for the Realities of Frontline Leadership

Supervisors are the most important layer of management in any operational organisation. They translate business objectives into daily action, maintain standards, support employees and ensure work is completed safely, consistently and to the required quality. The challenge is this: supervisors are typically promoted because of their technical ability, not their leadership skills. They are excellent at the job — but nobody has ever taught them how to manage people.

This full-day programme gives supervisors, team leaders and first line managers the practical leadership tools, delegation skills, performance management techniques and confident conversation frameworks to lead their teams effectively — with realistic operational scenarios and a 90-day development action plan they can implement immediately.

Programme Outline

Full-Day Supervisory Skills Training Programme

Morning Session
The Supervisory Role, Leadership Styles, Communication & Delegation

Delegates establish the role and responsibilities of an effective supervisor — and the critical difference between doing the job and leading the team. They explore their natural leadership style and apply the situational leadership model to real team scenarios, then develop practical communication and delegation skills — giving instructions that are understood first time, active listening and assigning work with clear ownership and accountability rather than defaulting to doing it themselves.

Afternoon Session — Part 1
Managing Performance, Feedback & Difficult Conversations

Delegates apply performance management techniques — setting clear standards, monitoring consistently and providing constructive feedback that actually changes behaviour. They then practise structuring and delivering difficult conversations about performance, attitude and behaviour through structured role play — developing the confidence to address issues early, professionally and without damaging working relationships.

Afternoon Session — Part 2
Team Motivation, Culture & 90-Day Action Planning

Delegates explore what motivates different team members, how to build trust, respect and a positive operational culture, and how to balance people management with operational pressure. Every delegate leaves with a personalised 90-day supervisory development action plan — specific, measurable commitments to apply from the very next shift.
