Programme Outline

Half-Day Vulnerable Customer Awareness Workshop Outline

First Half
Understanding Vulnerability, Consumer Duty & the BRUCE Framework

Delegates establish what customer vulnerability means under the FCA definition, explore the four key drivers of vulnerability (Health, Life Events, Financial Resilience and Capability) and understand their Consumer Duty obligations under FG21/1 guidance. They then apply the BRUCE Framework to recognise vulnerability indicators in realistic customer scenarios — including the non-obvious signs most frequently missed in telephone, face-to-face and written interactions.

Second Half
Communication Skills, Safeguarding & Personal Action Plan

Delegates develop the confidence to adapt their communication style, tone and language when vulnerability is recognised, and practise responding appropriately to disclosures — including knowing when and how to signpost customers to appropriate support. They leave with a personalised action plan — specific, immediately applicable improvements to how they identify, support and respond to vulnerable customers from the very next interaction.
